Update 16.2 broke connection to my hearing aids on my iPhone 13 pro

Since updating to 16.2, my Signia 7Nx Bluetooth enabled hearing aids won't connect to my iPhone pro 13. It sees them in accessibility under hearing devices, but will not connect with them, even though I've restarted the iPhone and the hearing aids. Bluetooth doesn't recognize them at all, and the native Signia app wont connect, either. Somethings wrong with the bluetooth settings I can't work out. I reset the network settings, but that didn't help, either.

They connected and worked perfectly fine until I updated my iPhone to 16.2, and now they don't. Looks like I will have to figure out how to downgrade the iOS and be wary of upgrading in the future if I can't fix it.
