The entire CarPlay gets stuck after using Google Maps for few minutes

Hello,

Since the first week of October 2022, my CarPlay has been getting stuck if Google Maps is used for a few minutes. The system gets resumed after a restart but again goes hung after a few minutes of Google Maps usage.

I have tried to reset the car's system, the Google Maps app and even my iPhone but no help! I found a lot of complaints after October 2022 in AppStore under Google Maps reviews about the same.

I also tried to connect another iPhone running iOS 15, and the issue was reproducible. This confirmed that the Google Maps app caused the issue.

Now I wonder how a robust operating system, iOS, can get stuck by an app! Should Apple help us in some way to get this fixed, as this app is making the entire system fail?

Though Apple Maps are not very helpful in India with live traffic, I am using it meantime to avoid the issue.

Any suggestions by the community members to solve this?

Hello piyushkdwivedi,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you need help with Google Maps app on your iPhone. We completely understand why you'd reach out, and are happy to help.

Is Google maps the only app having this issue? If so, let's go ahead and try these steps as they seem to resolve most app issues: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

Please have a look and let us know if this helps!

Cheers!

piyushkdwivedi,

As the issue is specific to when using Google Maps, the next step will be contacting the app developer using the following steps:

How to contact an app developer

1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Search for the app, then tap it. If you can't find it, tap the account button  or your photo at the top of the screen, tap Purchased, tap "Not on this [device]," then tap the app.
3. The app's product page appears. Scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section, then tap App Support. If you don't see App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.
