WD HDD disappeared after clicking some certain folder in HDD portable drive

I have an WD 1TB HDD ultra, set up for Window PC, when connected to my Macbook (air 2015 and pro M2) at first I can open folders and access my files in finder well enough. Though whenever I click on one certain folder, the finder closes and the hard drive disappears. After which, it becomes inaccessible. I cannot find it, cannot eject it properly.

Though if I restart the Macbook, the HDD appears again, I can open every other folder fine except for just THAT one. It’s kind of frustrating

(this does not happen to my two other hard drives.)

Anyone might know what’s going on?

Does that folder contain an extraordinary number of files? Finder has a problem with somewhere on the order of approximately 1,000 files.

When the drive disappears, can it be found in Go > Computer (cmd-shift-c)?

There are some other folders contain that many and I have no problem opening them. I had thought the same, but when I broke the folder up to smaller size ones, two folders contains MKV files are still inaccesible. The one with .ts is fine. The orginal folder has disappeared.

And yes, I still can find the hard drive there, just cannot do anything to make it show.

Same problem here :(((((

Pluged the usb cable of WD Passport 2TB.

Unlocked the access to private driver.

Selected and clicked one folder to open it.

Before showing the content, a message shows up with "No folder found!".

And mysteriously I saw the folder disappear from the list of content!

No unrecover software detect the missing folder.

Do these folders have recursive aliases? i.e. a link to the parent folder?
