Why do I have to get iTunes match

I am playing my Christmas music from which has been downloaded to my iMac. I am using the app Music and I continue to get this message that says "This requires iTunes Match or Apple Music, Renew your iTunes Match Subscription or join Apple Music and try again" Why do I need this, I don't want to pay $24.95 to store my music in the cloud. It's on my computer and I paid for these songs. Nor do I want to subscribe to Apple Music. It does not have the type of music I listen to. What is going on,.

We're happy to help. What is the source of this music? Was it purchased from the iTunes Store or imported into your library?

If it was purchased, is it downloaded locally on your Mac? Download previous iTunes Store purchases in Music on Mac

If you want to make your music available on all devices using iCloud, you would need to subscribe to iTunes Match or Apple Music: Access your music library on all your devices

You can sync your music library between your Mac and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Sync music between your Mac and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
