Apple Music Carplay crashing on Kenwood DNX518VDABS head unit for VW

A couple of days ago Apple music app has frozen when using carplay.

Music app works fine when not connected to car head unit, but once plugged in, it opens the app on the head unit which is frozen, touch screen buttons dont work and then the app crashes back to the home screen. The Iphone11 music app is also unresponsive at the same time.

Other apps work fine, ie google maps, Amazon music app.

I saw from other threads in 2021 that this was an issue.

I have reset the Kenwood unit. I have also updated the Iphone11 to the latest OS version and it still hasn't fixed this issue.

To perform the steps in the article we suggested above, click and open the link, read the subheadings below, and try each step.

1) Close and reopen the app

2) Restart your device

3) Check for updates

4) Delete the app, then redownload it
