MacBook Pro 15” FlexGate

Does anyone know what criteria Apple needs before they will open a Apple Service Program? I have a 15” MacBook Pro that just went black and all signs are leading to their backlight/flexgate issue. After doing a bit of research I found out about the MacPro 13” getting a service program but the 15” was left out (why they didn’t include the 15” was never explained). But rulings from judges are finding Apple knew about the problem this entire time. Just wondering why Apple would take a chance on losing brand loyal customers like myself by not getting in front of the problem and just fix the defect.

Service Programs are triggered by the percentage of all MBP of this spec vs the number of failures documented.

We are not privy to this %, or have any more insight.

A repair ticket, your Apple Feedback—all are heading in the right direction to trigger this release.

A repair at your local AppleStore or AASP will generate a "service record" for the repair on your machine—and this is all you will need to qualify—if a Service Program is issued in the future.
