13.0.1 Home Sharing not logging in

I am trying to turn on media sharing so I can fix the other issue with the screensaver not showing the whole album. When I add my password, either System Settings just freezes and I have to force quit. Or I turn on media sharing, and then close out, go back in and the Media sharing is turned off. Either way the whole Media sharing is screwed up. any other fixes I may be missing?

Come on...stop it. Don't just say to upgrade the Apple TV and think that fixes it. Proper trouble shooting is not to just upgrade. there is a reason as to why it does not work. The Apple TV is on the latest update and so is the laptop. However What I found is that Home Sharing will work with 12.6.2. So it is isolated to latest 13.X version.

Hello jkarpowich,

It sounds like you are unable to log in to turn on Home Sharing on your Apple TV, right? Have you tried restarting the Apple TV to see if that helps?

The latest version of tvOS is 16.1, you may want to update your Apple TV:

Update your Apple TV - Apple Support

"Update your Apple TV manually

  1. Go to Settings > System > Software Updates and select Update Software.
  2. If there's an update, select Download and Install.
  3. Wait for your Apple TV to download the update. Keep your Apple TV connected and plugged in to power until the update is complete.

After the update downloads, your Apple TV will restart, prepare the update, then install it. When the update is complete, your Apple TV will automatically restart again."

Regards.

Hello jkarpowich,

Let's use the steps from this resource to boot into safe mode to see if that behavior persists from there: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

It can take a few extra minutes to boot into safe mode. Your screen may flash or flicker while in safe mode. Those behaviors are expected. Testing in safe mode runs a check on your disk, removes some cached files, and can help isolate conflicts with startup items. Once you've tested that behavior in safe mode, you can restart to leave safe mode.

Let us know your results, and we'll keep moving forward from there.
