WhatsApp Message Reaction: some emoji's missing

Hi,

The emoji reaction on a Whatsapp Message was working fine, but suddenly there are emoji's missing, that were there before. The normal keyboard still has all the emoji's, but the WhatsApp Reaction Keyboard misses the numbers 1️⃣ to 9️⃣? I used them many times to give movies and series a rating in a 'must see this-app' I have, but now they are gone!?

I have contacted WhatsApp Support and they say it an issue from Apple, not them.

I deleted gboard, reset the keyboard dictionary, even installed WhatsApp again, but still missing emoji's for reaction.

Anyone having the same problem or ideas for solutions?

Thanks, Margit

Hi margitf,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. Since it sounds like this issue only happens in WhatsApp, reaching out to them was a great start. We'd also recommend trying these steps from If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support which can help with app-specific issues.

1 Close and reopen the app
Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

2 Restart your device
Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

3 Check for updates
To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.

4 Delete the app, then redownload it
Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

 Best of luck!

Hi margitf,

If the issue is isolated to the third-party application, then reach out to WhatsApp Support directly for continued assistance, as the issue would be tied to their application. You can see that suggestion outlined here:

How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

"When to contact an app developer for help

  • If an app isn't working, but the issue doesn't affect other apps

Contact the developer of an iOS, iPadOS, or watchOS app

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Search for the app, then tap it. If you can't find it, tap the account button  or your photo at the top of the screen, tap Purchased, tap "Not on this [device]," then tap the app.
  3. The app's product page appears. Scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section, then tap App Support. If you don't see App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID."

Kind regards.
