Does an Apple plus tv subscription change from a promised $4.99 to a $6.99 within five months without being warned?

I had a yearly subscription. I never received an email regarding a price increase. Instead, they refunded me for the remaining 1 1/2 months. Except that was for $0.00. The explanation I was given? The 1st month was free. What? They then sent me a notice in my subscriptions that it had expired.
A yearly sub will be refunded if moved over to Apple One, it may also if cancelled early. If it is no longer active it will show as expired and if it was prior to the increase no email would be sent. If you have further questions you can always contact Apple directly.
My original sub doesn’t expire until Jan 16…I have no desire for Apple one…Apple actually cancelled my sub early and then gave me a refund of 0 dollars…I spoke to Apple support before any comments I’ve made here…

I received an email just before my November renewal, that there would be an increase as of my next billing (so around 30 days notice).
I to have received emails not only from Apple but other streaming services announcing price increases (Hulu, Netflix, etc).
No service increases the price without sending you an email.
Does an apple plus subscription increase without a warning?
