Questioning my Apple TV subscription pricing

I currently have a monthly plan but read that it would be changing to a yearly subscription in August @$109.99 but that never happened. I see the option on the app to switch over to a yearly subscription @ $69.99 when my current subscription renews in October. Why is there a discrepancy in the yearly pricing? Is the only benefit to the yearly subscription just not having to pay monthly or is there some additional content that goes along with that subscription??
