I got a nice note from the developer saying:
Hi Al,
ActiveTab works on Safari 16.1, but I don't recommend using it. ActiveTab was created to fix the tab design in Safari 15.0. Since Apple has reverted the tab design, it is no longer needed.
(I keep it in the App Store so earlier customers can continue to redownload it.)

I wrote him back saying:
Thank you for your kind note.
In Safari 16.x the contrast between the active tab and the inactive tabs is hardly enough for 'old' eyes to see. So perhaps your extension is still very much needed?
I don't understand what you mean by "tab design' in 16? Maybe you can help me make the active tab a bit lighter or a different color through some preference in Safari that I don't understand?
Do you see what I mean by this screen shot in Safari?:

It is a bit lighter in this above picture than it is on the actual iMac (2015) Monterey screen.
Below is how it looks in Chrome. Do you see how much more contrast there is?:

Any information you can provide will be very welcome.
Thank you,
Al
