Can no longer control Sonos from my MacBook Pro

The Sonos app on my MacBook Pro (Ventura 13.0.1) no longer works properly to control my in house Sonos speaker system. After years of controlling from my Macs, I now can't operate the system.

The bad performing Sonos app says a software update is needed, but when I attempt that I get many repeats of Error - Try Again Later. After many attempts I went to the tried and true procedure of uninstalling the app, with the intent of re-installing it. Surprise! The App Store no longer carries the Sonos app for Macs. So, I can't re-install the app I just dumped.

What's up? Has Apple gotten out ahead of Sonos with its latest macOS update? And so also removed the app from the App Store because it won't work?

Or is there some other fix for this that I haven't found yet?

(I can easily control my Sonos system as before with all of my iOS devices)

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 13.0

I have downloaded the app from Sonos, but there is still a problem. Now that it’s on my MacBook Pro it seems to work, but I haven’t tried yet in all ways, since before was dicey. Yet it still says a backup is available to me, however it won’t provide the backup (“try again later”).

Hard to believe that a reputable company like Sonos won’t ensure compatibility with the latest Ventura updates. So, I would add a Caution to potential users just now.

One more thing. While the workaround I just described does work, why did I have to find out about it by complaining online? Shouldn't Sonos have issued some sort of message telling us all that they were not going to support macOS Ventura updates as they do on iOS and iPadOS? And telling us how to do updates on Macs, instead of having to search out the answer on Apple forums?

Seems to me a double fault for Sonos. And surprising, a company whose products I have enjoyed for years.

I got advice on another thread that works. Uninstall your current Sonos app from your Mac, and then download a newer version of the program (v.14.20 for Sonos S2) from the Sonos site, and install it in your Mac. Clunky, I know, but it does work.

So, instead of the usual automatic or manual app update process for Sonos on a Mac with Ventura, you have to go back to the dark ages to update the app. I'm puzzled that a prominent company like Sonos would just let this go for weeks. Particularly when they seem to have applied the usual easy update process to iOS and iPadOS.
