Microphone with FaceTime and Zoom Calls

With the last IOS update that came out on the computer/iPhone it had asked me if I wanted something to do with linking my iPhone with my MacBook when on a zoom/FaceTime call, and I clicked accept, or okay. But it's really began to be a problem. Anytime I'm on a zoom call, the person will just stop being able to hear me, and on my phone a message will pop up and say "Resume" or "Disconnect" and no matter which one I choose, the person cannot continue to hear me through my MacBook speakers, I have to end the Zoom meeting and enter back into it, and then the process begins all over. How do I change the setting that I "accepted" when I did the last IOS update? I don't know what it's called, I just know it had a little notification box that had popped up asking if I'd like to be able to use that "new feature" and now I regret setting it up. Can you please inform me what feature this is, and how to turn it off. I have googled everything and cannot find answers, I've even tried turning off my bluetooth feature on my phone when on the Zoom meeting and it STILL interrupts the meeting, quits allowing my voice to be heard through the MacBook speakers, and it still pops up that little notification on my phone. This only has occurred since the LAST iOS update. Please advise how to disconnect my iPhone microphone from syncing with my MacBook when I'm FaceTiming or on a Zoom call, and the name of that new feature.

Thank you,

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.0

Is this what you did?

  1. Make sure your other device is turned on, then tap the screen that’s showing the call.
  2. A notification of the call appears on the Lock Screen (or in Notification Center) of the other device, along with the suggestion “Move call to this [device].”
  3. Tap the notification to switch the call, or tap  at the top left of the screen, then tap .
  4. A preview of the call appears, showing your camera, microphone, and audio settings.
  5. Make sure the camera, microphone, and audio settings are the ones you want, then tap .
  6. The call moves to the new device. On the original device, a banner appears confirming that the call was continued elsewhere, along with , which you can tap if you want to bring the call back.

I don't want to undo the functionality of FaceTime on my phone or MacBook altogether, just that specific setting. But Ie: when my phone dies, it'll say a notification on my MacBook "Audio- iPhone has been disconnected". There has to be a way to completely undo that setting where it gives the option to switch to the iPhone.. I just don't know how. But I'll check out the links. Thank you.

I’ve turned off all those settings of being able to hand off the call and it’s still doing it. This is happening when I’m on a zoom call on my laptop and it tries to transfer the microphone over to my phone it’ll say “resume” or “disconnected” on my phone meanwhile no matter which option I choose on my phone the person on the computer stops being able to hear me, or I stop being able to hear them. I just want to br able to take the zoom call on my computer like I could prior to this update without it trying to switch the audio to my phone. The only way I’ve figured out is to turn my phone completely off while on the zoom call and a little notification pops up on the Mac saying “iPhone disconnected” I guess telling me it’s turned off. It’s the audio that messes up on the MacBook. I’ve even tried to click on the audio settings on the zoom call and it’ll say it’s picking it up but the other person can’t hear me and I can’t hear them. So it’s frustrating. I did the newest update on my MacBook last night so maybe if it was a bug or something it has fixed itself. I won’t know until I’m on another zoom call. FaceTime it doesn’t happen as much but for work I have to do zoom and it’s messing up. Idk what’s causing it to do it even though I’ve went into the settings and stopped the “device hand off” settings it’s still tries to switch it.
