my MacBook will not sleep with the lid closed. how do I fix this?

My Macbook pro shuts down when i close the lid Recently my MacBook M1 Pro shut down when I close the lid and it doesn't go to sleep. Even when I manually put it in sleep mode it shuts down. my OS is Up to date. I tried resetting SMC and rebooting it in safe mode but my problem didn't solve. can anyone help?
