Apple Music stops after playing 2 songs from my library

Any ideas why Apple Music - on a MacBook Pro M1 running macOS Monterey 12.4 consistently stops after playing 2 tracks from my library? Ie not streaming but playing songs I have saved on my laptop in Apple Music? After 2 tracks, the music stops playing, the name of the first track still appears at the top as if it is still playing and I need to click the skip track button to restart the music - after doing this there are no further issues and tracks play continuously. The problem occurs again after I restart Apple Music, start playing a different playlist etc

Hello Colm111,

We have heard of similar issues, but not like this, and not with macOS. This is why we are starting troubleshooting, seeing if the same thing occurs in safe mode, checking if a reinstall macOS helps, etc.

You can also make a new unmodified test Admin user, and see if it's the same there or not. This would let us know if it's isolated to your main Admin account, or system wide. After testing, you can then go ahead and delete the test user.

Hi

I'm having a similar problem. I'm running MacOS 13.1 (Ventura) on my iMac. The problem seemed to start on 13.0 and I just upgraded hoping it would be resolved. Earlier OS versions had other problems but they seemed to be resolved in Monterey.

I use Music (iTunes) to store my CD library and stream it through the house using AirPlay through Sonos. It will play a few tracks then stop. It always stops at the end of a track. If I try to restart the track, it appears to be playing but no sound.

Update on this - thanks for the advice.

I didn't follow the steps suggested, although I was planning to. In the meantime, I actually just updated my MacOS to Ventura 13.1, and after doing that my issues with Apple Music seem to have been resolved, at least for the few days since updating. So perhaps reinstalling the MacOS would also have worked. Will see if the issues I was experiencing re-emerge but right now I seem to be good.
