Notes disappeared on iPhone

All of my notes are in a folder and I can see the Header for every note. When I open a note I get a blank screen and the keypad will not show what I am typing. I've discovered that the invisible notes are actually there. If you use the menu link at the bottom of the invisible note, you can copy or print the note plus a few other functions. I actually copied and pasted an invisible note into a text message. All of the remedies I found online say the notes have been deleted or moved to another location but that is not my experience. How can I get my Notes app working again?

Where were the Notes? See the pic below. You will get your answer

The recently deleted folder will exist only if you deleted Notes from iCloud or from the "On My Phone" Folder. Deletion from other Folders does not use Recently Deleted Sub-Folder.

Please see the following pic which is self-explanatory

If you're missing notes on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

My notes aren't missing, I just can't view them on my iPhone. To see my notes I can copy the blank page and then paste it into another app. I can also print the note from a blank notes page. No notes have been deleted, I just can't see them on my iPhone. When I open a folder, I can see the first line of every note but when I open a visible note from my visible note list, I get the invisible one that can still be printed. If my notes had been deleted, I wouldn't be able to view the list of them when I open a folder.
