Why do I have to pay for the “Free” gift card when I bought a MacBook Air?

Why do I have to pay for the Free gift card when I bought a MacBook Air? The e-mail I received from Apple said free 150 gift card when you buy a MacBook Air or Pro during the promotion weekend. When I got my invoice, there was a charge of $12.50 per month for 12 months and no way to remove it from the order. This is either deceptive advertising or an outright fraud.

It's neither. Your purchase price has not changed. The MacBook Air is discounted by the price of the gift card and your total charge is the same but you gain $150. Eg. If the MacBook Air cost 1500, you pay 1500 but get 1650 in value.
