iphone unavaible and in airplane mode

My child was playing with my phone and now its in iphone unavailable mode, too many password attempts. I had it in airplane mode so they couldn't access the internet. So I can't put it in recovery mode as it needs internet or cellular data access to be put in recovery mode. And it will not recognize any lightening or data cables ... I've tried 4, which work on our other phones ... Any ideas?????

Hey there bevansbunch,

Recovery mode will not require you to have Wi-Fi or cellular, only restoring will require a connection. Try the steps below to help place it in recovery mode and restore from your computer:

iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X and later, including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation) use the side button.

Once in recovery mode, continue with the steps to restore found here:

1. Locate your iPhone in the Finder or in iTunes on the computer that it’s connected to. (Learn how to find your connected iPhone.)
2. Choose Restore when you see the option to Restore or Update. Your computer downloads software for your iPhone and begins the restore process. If the download takes more than 15 minutes and your device exits the recovery mode screen, let the download finish, then turn off your iPhone and start again.
3. Wait for the process to finish.
4. Disconnect your iPhone from the computer, then set up and use your iPhone
