m1 mac shuts down partway through startup

m1 mac shuts down partway through startup

This was weird. I'm guessing it will happen again. I open my M1 MacBook Pro, I get the chime, I enter my password, and it shuts down. I wait a couple minutes, start it again, and it start normally.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do I have to worry about it continuing?

We’d suggest following this Apple Support article if you ever notice this again: If your Mac restarted because of a problem.

If your Mac restarts unexpectedly, you should try these steps first:

Install any macOS updates and App Store updates .
Test if this only happens when a certain app is open.
Use safe mode to isolate any startup software items that may be causing the issue.

If you continue to notice this problem each time you start your Mac, please contact Apple Support for more help.

1) Everything is up to date. I watch that stuff pretty closely.

2) No apps are open - it gets through password entry, then stops about 10-15% through the rest of startup.

3) Will do, if this happens again.
