External USB Backup Volume won't mount after Ventura upgrade

I recently updated the OS on my MacBook Pro to Ventura 13.0.1 and now the backup volume on my external usb hard drive won't mount. The other backup volumes that are on the USB hard drive (for other computers) will mount. The other computers have not been upgraded to Ventura yet. I tried checking the volume with DiskUtility and it failed. Tried mounting it with DiskUtility and it failed with error com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 49217. Also tried mounting from command line, also didn't work. Anyone else having similar issues and is there a know fix (other than reformatting)?
