Ford Sync/Bluetooth no longer working after i OS 16.1.1 update

After years of software updates with no problems related to Ford’s SYNC - after updating to the latest 16.1.1 version SYNC did not recognize my phone and it was if it was never installed. Tried pairing and it never showed up as a recognized device. Shut down phone, car rebooted, removed device, turned Bluetooth off/on - nothing is working. Super frustrating!

That’s frustrating, too. Curious - have you tried a SYNC download/update? I guess that is my only other option. It could be my older vehicle/SYNC just aren’t compatible.

I'm considering an update since I have never done one. Also, I was mistaken about the cable via USB...that is indeed working.

I chatted online with Ford and received some instructions on doing a master reset of the SYNC. That didn't do anything for me.

One odd thing that keeps happening is that when I try to add a new phone on the SYNC (I deleted all the phones yesterday thinking starting over might help), it keeps telling me that bluetooth is turned off and asks if I want to turn it on. If I go to the bluetooth setting on SYNC, I see that indeed it is turned off, so I turn it on there. Then go back to add the phone, and the same message appears. When I go back to the bluetooth setting, it has somehow magically turned back off.
