Pencil get laggy on notes app after 20-30 mins of use and iPad starts to heat up.

I have an 11-inch Ipad Pro with an M1 chip and generally use it for note-taking. I only use the notes app to take notes, and after 20-30 minutes of use, Apple Pencil (2nd gen) gets laggy, and the iPad starts to heat up. I tried to restart the iPad, but there was no change. Apple Pencil's battery was around 93-95%. After reopening the notes app it seems like all the writings and charts were compressed to a single page (every 2 out of 3 times) and doesn't get back to normal for 20 seconds. Moreover, even if it seems like back to normal, when I try to write something it shows that I am writing to a different page. Because of that, I had to wait for another 10-20 seconds to get all back to normal again (every single time). All apps are up-to-date. Is there anyone know how I can fix it? If there is no fix, could anyone recommend me a different note app?

Same issues with my 11 M2. I think it’s because this version of Notes has a lot of new features. Also, most Beta tester reviewers, sadly, don’t use Notes and paid it no attention. I use Notes most of the time and I noticed in 16.x it can be wonky & laggy.

The re-pairing of the Pencil mentioned by JJRASC seems to have worked for now.

Hello BerkayClk,

It sounds like your Notes app will get laggy after taking notes using an Apple Pencil for some time, right? When did you start noticing this behavior?

Check out this link on using the Notes app:

Do you notice an improvement after pairing your Apple Pencil again?

  1. First open the Settings app on your iPad.
  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. Find your Apple Pencil and tap the information icon next to the pencil name.
  4. Tap “Forget this Device” to remove your Apple Pencil.
  5. Restart your iPad before connecting your pencil again: Connect Apple Pencil with your iPad

Please fully charge your iPad and Apple Pencil before testing again.
