Why does Apple Maps make a Phone call on Bluetooth?

Whenever I’m using the Apple Maps app via Bluetooth it makes a phone call every time it gives an audible direction thru my cars speakers! The call is to something called “My Number” only lasts as long as the direction being given, then disconnects but does not actually appear on the recent calls log. The display screen on my car switches to the phone call screen every time the app gives an audible instruction, like turn at Maple street, and I have to manually switch the cars display back to its normal setting.

I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalled it, unpaired and repaired my car updated the app and the IOS software etc. it actually does the same thing with my other vehicles as well.

It started about a month ago.

Google maps works as normal.

Hi there Hogstir,

Can you clarify for us the step you took when you mentioned you updated the app when troubleshooting? Was that updating the firmware for your car or something else? We want to make sure we fully understand what you've already tried.

If you also updated the car firmware (if applicable) and you continue to encounter this issue, you can contact Apple Support for further assistance. You can reach out with the following link: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care.
