I had assumed that it was functioning as designed. The illumination goes off after a while when I am streaming. Since the volume control is on the Touch Bar, I have to "wake up" the unlit (and nearly invisible) Touch Bar to illuminate it by touching it. Only then I can use the volume controls. BTW, thanks for the help.

What is the issue, are you saying your Touch bar is not working..?

Because as far as I know the Touch bar is always on if you Mac is fully booted.

If your touch bar is not working on a M1/M2 SoC Mac

—Shut down, close the lid 30 secs+ , reboot as normal.


If no resolve

—try SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support to sort anomalies.



If this does not sort it— typically indicates you have hardware issue. Make plans to take it in.
