How do I open a .webloc in Safari on iPadOS?

Files opens the .webloc in itself, without any of the useful features (like a back button) that a web browser has. There's no "open file" option in Safari, and no "open with program" option for .webloc files in Files. There is a Share hotbar that allows me to quick send it to social and text reader apps, but that doesn't include any web browsers. I looked through every search page here and Google and 100% are on creating one or related to macOS rather than iPadOS. I just want it to open in Safari like it should.

That doesn't explain how to open .webloc files in Safari, and I don't see any way to access files on my iPad or Dropbox from the Bookmarks section in Safari. Since there is no address bar when a .webloc opens in Files I don't know what the website address is, so I can't create an iOS Shortcut that way. When sent a .webloc file directly I only get the option to download it, so there seems to be no way around it. I guess I'll have to send feedback to  like you suggested.

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities Moorgan,

It sounds like you are trying to open a shortcut to a website on your iPad. These can be created and opened following the information below from Bookmark favorite websites in Safari on iPad - Apple Support. This resource discusses how you can save a website to your Home screen in iOS and iPadOS:

Add a website icon to the Home Screen

You can add a website icon to your iPad Home Screen for quick access.
On the website, tap the Share button, then tap Add to Home Screen.

Note: The icon appears only on the device where you add it.

Once added to your Home screen, tapping the website icon will open the site for you.

If you'd like additional options for managing website shortcuts no your iPad, you can let Apple know directly here: Feedback - iPad - Apple
