Apple tv+ freezing and not streaming certain content

I have a high end Vizio smart TV and it used to stream Apple TV content well. Now certain content refuses to stream, it will start briefly and lock up. Same content streams flawlessly on my Samsung tv which is on the same fiber connection. All other streaming services stream in HD on the Vizio. Apple TV is my only problem. Any other Vizio owners having this problem?

If you are having trouble streaming to the Apple TV app, follow If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app. First, make sure the app is up to date then continue to the steps below:


"If the movie or TV show won't start playing


After each step, try to stream or download the movie or TV show again.

  1. Check the System Status page for service interruptions or check a third-party provider's website for any interruptions. If there are service interruptions, try to stream or watch the video later.
  2. If you're having trouble signing in with your Apple ID, you can reset your Apple ID password or learn how to get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication.
  3. If your cellular connection is poor, connect to Wi-Fi instead.*
  4. Try watching on a different device using the same Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If it doesn't work, contact your internet service provider to see if there's an issue with your network.
  5. If other people are using Apple TV+ or Apple TV channels, make sure it doesn't exceed the limits for streaming on multiple devices."

I have a Samsung QN50Q8 connected via ethernet.

It is set up for automatic updates..


Apple TV app is pathetic in that it freezes up _every_ time

we stream content from Apple.


One thing I try is to <pause> then<return> to Apple home page.

Select the same show.

_If_ the show returns it is _never_ where I paused it.

Usually the show starts from the beginning.


Most of the time I have to exit Apple app and select another service then

go back to Apple.


It is not my router, as other streaming services do not exhibit this

faulty behavior.


Apple is increasing the monthly subscription fee by 40%.

How about providing a service worthy of the Apple Brand?


Unless this improves we will be cancelling..

I also have a Vizio smart TV that streams every other streaming service perfectly. It is only the Apple TV app that freezes up over and over again no matter what I am playing. Years ago it worked fine, but it seems like every year it just gets worse and worse. Now it is to the point that I am seriously considering dropping Apple TV because it doesn’t seem like it is going to get any better, especially since they are increasing the price. I cannot stand the freezing much longer, Apple should be ashamed of themselves for how useless this app is.
