Trouble watching Apple TV on my Vizio tv

Whenever I try to watch something on the preinstalled Apple TV app on my Vizio tv, the screen freezes and then kicks me out

  1. Verify that the TV system software is up-to-date.
  2. Verify that the Apple TV app is up to date. The TV should be set up to automatically keep apps up-to-date.
  3. Try to reset the Apple TV app. You will have to sign in again after that.
  4. Try a cold restart of the TV (power off, not standby-wake).
