Hi Jussirei,

We appreciate you reaching out to us. We understand that your Apple Watch was showing a red exclamation mark, which you then restored your Apple Watch.

It sounds like you no longer have the Red ! after the restoral, would would be why it turns off when you hold the two buttons, as shown here: Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

To force restart your Apple Watch, press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo.

It looks like you came from the article below. Did you had the chance to try all the steps in that article? Even if you no longer show the exclamation point as you did before, these steps could be still helpful to resolve not being able to connect.

If your Apple Watch shows an iPhone and a watch or a red “!” - Apple Support

If your Apple Watch with watchOS 8.5 or later displays an animation showing a watch and iPhone being brought close together, follow these steps:

1. Make sure that an iPhone is nearby. The iPhone needs to have iOS 15.4 or later, it needs to be connected to Wi-Fi* with Bluetooth turned on, and it needs to be unlocked.
2. Put your Apple Watch on its charger.
3. Double-click the side button (the button below the circular Digital Crown) on your Apple Watch.
4. Follow the steps that appear on the iPhone.

* If these steps don't work for you, check your Wi-Fi. Try using a 2.4GHz network instead of 5GHz, and make sure that you're not on a captive or 802.1X network.

If you're still not able to pair your watch again, or the red ! returns, please use the "contact Apple Support" link on the last step of the article.

As mentioned in the article, you may need to explore your service options if the device continues to display the red exclamation mark after performing the steps in the article. Here's a helpful link with info about Apple Watch service: Apple Watch Service & Repair - Apple Support

Take care!

Hey Jussirei,

Are you able to unpair the Apple Watch from your wife's account? Doing so may help move things along. The following support article provides steps for how to unpair with the paired iPhone or without the paired iPhone: Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If that doesn't help we recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly for a closer look. You can reach out here: Contact - Official Apple Support

Cheers!
