Waking from sleep, windows on external DisplayPort monitor move to Macbook Air screen

When I upgraded to Ventura all windows move to 14" M1 MacBook Pro when is wakes from sleep. This started after the Ventura upgrade and never before. I swapped my home screen and dock to my 32" HDR 4K LG display and now all the screen wake on the external display rather than the laptop.

Nothing is checked under Mission Control, but the problem continues.

Hello RR_M_SS,

If there are some apps that you'd like to assign to a particular display/desktop, you may do this via the following:

  1. Right-click/Control-click the app in question in the Dock.
  2. Select Options.
  3. In the Assign To section, select the desktop you wish to assign it to.

Cheers.

This is a fine solution for individual apps but not the optimal solution for one app with multiple windows. I don't want to assign safari to one desktop, but I have several windows across multiple desktops across 3 different monitors.

Before I could put the windows wherever I wanted and they would stay there. Now on Venturra when I open up my MacBook from sleep there is a chance that a good chunk of my windows will have been sent to my main laptop screen for some reason. Very annoying and MacOS has basically gotten worse at this and regressed.

Any ideas on how to fix it? A terminal command maybe?
