Auto-brightness feature is not working as expected in my iPhone 14

Hi there,

The auto-brightness feature is not working in my iPhone 14 after I manually increase or decrease the brightness from the control center for an instance; though the auto-brightness feature is enabled in the Accessability-->Display&Text size.

I had to disable and enable the auto-brightness feature again to enjoy the feature. Is it an expected behavior?

Hi Deepak_mohan,

It's never fun when Auto-Brightness isn't working as expected on your iPhone 14, and we will do everything we can to help you. When you have a free moment, please try the steps in the link below in the section titled "Adjust the screen brightness manually" and "Adjust the screen brightness automatically."

Adjust the screen brightness and color on iPhone

Adjust the screen brightness manually

To make your iPhone screen dimmer or brighter, do one of the following:
*Open Control Center, then drag the Brightness button.
*Go to Settings  > Display & Brightness, then drag the slider.

Adjust the screen brightness automatically

iPhone adjusts the screen brightness for current light conditions using the built-in ambient light sensor.
1) Go to Settings  > Accessibility.
2) Tap Display & Text Size, then turn on Auto-Brightness.

We’re recommending the steps above because they directly address the issue you initially posted about: Auto-Brightness isn’t working as expected on your iPhone 14.

If you’re still experiencing the same issue, then give the steps here a try: Force restart iPhone

Hey J_Johnnyboy,

I really appreciate your help. Unfortunately, it doesn't work.

Let me make the bug more clear; to re-produce the issue:

  1. Enable the auto-brightness in your iPhone

  1. Now, go back to the home screen, and adjust the screen brightness manually from the control center.

Note that the Auto-brightness button in the Accessibility > Tap Display & Text Size is still turned on.

  1. Now, go to some brighter or dimmer light area, you will see that the auto brightness will not work, the brightness of the display is still the level you have set manually.

To enable the auto brightness feature again, you've to go to Accessibility > Tap Display & Text Size, disable and enable the auto-brightness button again.

On Android phones, if you have enabled the auto-brightness feature, and you manually adjust the brightness for the time being, and then move to a place that is brighter or darker, the screen will automatically adjust its brightness.
