iPad popup : Do you want to download "no_match_opted_out?"

For some days now, I keep getting this annoying pop-up on my iPad when browsing in Safari. I have installed the latest software (iPadOS 16.1.1) and I have already done a complete restore of my iPad without any result. Do you have the same problem? How can I get rid of this pop-up? Thanks in advance for your help! Kind regards

Hello Patrick6767,

It sounds like you are getting a specific error when using your iPad to browse Safari, right? You've done some great steps to restore your iPad, but did you put your backup on the iPad?

If you haven't already, try to clear out the history and cookies:

Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Delete history, cache, and cookies

  • To clear your history and cookies, go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data. Clearing your history, cookies, and browsing data from Safari won't change your AutoFill information.
  • To clear your cookies and keep your history, go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data, then tap Remove All Website Data.
  • To visit sites without leaving a history, turn Private Browsing on.

When there's no history or website data to clear, the setting turns gray. The setting might also be gray if you have web content restrictions set up under Content & Privacy Restrictions in Screen Time."

Regards.

Hi K_Faith,

I have contacted Apple Support but my problem remains unsolved. They suggested to clear all Safari history and restoring the iPad but I had already tried this. Blocking all cookies is also no option because some sites won’t work by doing this.

As I mentioned above, I have here in the discussions found some older posts referring to the same problem but I have not yet found the solution 😕 Any help?

Kind regards

Patrick6767,

Let's use the steps below to close any open tabs in Safari:

Tap the Tabs button, then tap the Close button in the upper-right corner of a tab to close it.
Tip: To close all tabs in this Tab Group at the same time, touch and hold Done, then tap Close All [number of] Tabs.

You can also find those steps in this resource: Open and close tabs in Safari on iPad

That should help to isolate that behavior further to a particular tab.

If that still persists, does this appear to happen while using certain websites?

Does that continue when connected to another Wi-Fi network?

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward based on your results.

Hi Chuckbl, thanks for your help.

All my tabs in Safari are closed. I have also deleted all the Safari history and websitedata in the Settings menu. The problem however is not solved. I did not try another network, my iPad is WIFI-only and here at home I can only connect to our network. On my iPhone and Mac, I do not have this problem, so it is 'only' (but very annoying) on my iPad.

I have here in the discussions found some older posts referring to the same problem but I have not yet found the solution :-(

Kind regards
