Messenger will not open on iPad Air (4th generation)

Messenger will not open on iPad Air, no matter what I do.

Have powered off + back on, several times.

Have deleted Messenger app + reinstalled, several times.

What is it with this friggin app?

There are many reports of issues with FaceBook Messenger. Many users also report that deleting both the FaceBook and FaceBook Messenger Apps from the iPad, prior to restarting and reinstalling the Apps, will resolve the problem:
