I just got this message on my macbook that states this computer has been locked for security reasons

I just received this message on my MacBook Air stating that my computer has been locked for security reasons and to call Apple support. Is this a legitimate alert.

MacBook Air, macOS 12.4

It is a scam attempt. Apple will not contact you and no one has access to your computer to "lock" it unless you provide them access.
