Please bring back Instant Alpha!!!

I recently upgraded to Keynote 12.2 on my Mac, not realizing I would lose my favorite tool, Instant Alpha. It appears that Instant Alpha has been replaced with the new Remove Background tool which provides a one-click "intelligent" background removal option.

While this automation is handy, it is not nearly as precise, nor does it allow for the click-drag-sensitivity adjustment the Instant Alpha tool provided.

Anyone else dissatisfied with the new Remove Background in its current form?

In addition to the Remove background tool, Instant Alpha is still there.

Select the image and go to Remove Background then click and drag with the mouse.

Do this in stages, say to remove a blue sky behind a building, click and drag at the top left, click done, click and drag at the top right, click done. Repeat on each area that requires removal. As with all computer retouching, be gentle and patient.

i just want to use instant alpha, NOT remove background.

You are trying to use a tool not designed for your intended purpose.

Instant Alpha is a dedicated tool used to cut a hole in an image to reveal the background underneath that image.

If you want to change the colour in an image, you will need to use an image editing app from the Mac App Store: eg Pixelmator Seashore PaintX Luminar, there are hundreds.

There are of course Photoshop Affinity (and GIMP which is freeware)
