HKSV // Homekit not sending notifications when set to 'stream'

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem or not. I've got 3 different camera types/manufacturers in my HomeKit setup. None of them will send activity notifications when the camera is set to stream, I only get the notifications when the cameras are set to stream & record. I've tried using "only specific notifications" as well as all motion notifications, neither one works. Tried multiple configurations and nothing will get the notifications to come through unless I set to stream and record, which I've had to do... Not an absolute deal killer, but seems silly to record when I'm home when not needed.

I did several calls with apple support, they opened up a ticket with dev, but no resolution months later. Just curious if anyone else has had that same problem and figured out a solution? This has happened consistently since I installed the cameras around the time iOS 15 beta was released in 2021.

Everything is up to date, I've added/removed cameras several times. I'm using a Logitech CircleView doorbell, Eufy 2C cams and Onvis HomeKit cams. All have the exact same issue. None of them will show motion notifications unless set to record, so it's not the manufacturer.

I felt like I explained in the original post that all those settings have been enabled already. I have a larger homekit home setup so am very familiar with how to enable or disable notifications. All the notification configurations are enabled, and I have done support calls with Apple to grab logs as well with no luck in a resolution. This is not a wrong config issue. There is something else going on. Set to stream, no notifications, change to steam and record, all the notifications work.

Hi bennow,

From what you described in your original post, here is what we recommend: Set up security cameras in Home on iPhone - Apple Support

Next, we'd like to show you how to perform the recommended troubleshooting steps via the link above. Please click to open the link, then read through the steps in the section titled "Set up notifications."

1) On the Home tab, tap the More button, then tap Home Settings.
2) Tap Cameras & Doorbells.
3) Tap the camera for which you’d like to configure notifications.
4) Tap Notifications, then turn on Activity Notifications.

All HomeKit-compatible cameras can send a notification when motion is detected. HomeKit Secure Video cameras can additionally send notifications based on these factors:

*The time of day

*When someone is or isn’t home

*When a clip is recorded

*When any or a specific motion is detected

When you choose a specific motion, you receive a notification when the camera detects people, animals, or vehicles, or when a package is delivered. For a package to be detected, it must be within the camera’s view after delivery.

Tip: Choosing a specific motion, rather than any motion, results in fewer clips (and fewer clip notifications) and less video to review. For example, if you choose to detect people, your camera doesn’t capture the movement of leaves on a tree or a squirrel leaping from branch to branch.

The reason why we are recommending the steps above is because they will show you how to use the Home app  to view video activity captured by your home’s cameras.

If the original problem persists after trying the previous steps, please provide us with specifics on what you see for more help, and we will continue from there.
