My email defaults to a Linda who is NOT in my contacts but is a neighbor who I know. I frequently send her mail intended for another Linda same lat name. How can I erase her from my mac memory?

That's the odd thing - she is not in my contacts although I have emailed her in the past. Maybe she's in a group list that I don't see in contacts....She is in the contacts memory some how b/c it defaults to her first.
Find Linda in Mail's Window menu > Previous Recipients
You are going to want to go to contacts app then look up the Linda you want to remove click on it then scroll down and press delete.
