apple tv stopped controlling my tv after update

My apple tv won’t turn my tv on or off or control the volume after updating to 16.1. It used to work perfectly fine. The TV’s own remote can still control the TV. I even tried the learn new device setting. The Apple TV detected the signals, but still doesn’t control the TV.

Also checked Apple TV settings. Toggled the remote tv access as well, but the problem persists. I’m baffled. It appears this is not unusual, but I have not seen a fix or solution. I’d really appreciate a solution to fix this.

My Apple TV 4K+ Volume Feature Not Working My Apple TV 4K+ remote is generally working except for its volume control feature which is non responsive. How does one fix this?
