Cannot install Rosetta on Macbook Air M1

I have been trying to install Rosetta but this error message kept showing up:

2022-11-04 22:04:32.201 softwareupdate[833:18251] Package Authoring Error: 071-08750: Package reference com.apple.pkg.RosettaUpdateAuto is missing installKBytes attribute

Install failed with error: Download failed.%

I'm pretty sure my internet connection was stable. The download loads for a few seconds then this message would show up.

My macbook is a brand new macbook air m1 with MacOS Monterey 12.3

is there any solution for this?

You are behind on updates to macOS Monterey which is now at 12.6. Some Apple apps may not install unless the system is completely up to date.

Also, sometimes a simple reboot is all that is needed to fix things.

Or maybe you have some third party software installed with is interfering with the normal operation of macOS. Usual culprits are anti-virus apps, cleaning/optimizer apps, and third party security software...none of which are needed on a Mac. You can try booting into Safe Mode which will prevent these apps from launching automatically during boot & login to see if Rosetta will install.
