Tax Refund directly via Apple when we buy iPhone from Apple Store in Europe as Non-EU resident

Hello, I learned from one of my friend who lives in Turkey that he is able to refund the VAT tax directly from Apple for the iPhone he bought from Sweden Apple Store.

He told me that if I buy from Sweden, I can do the same since also I live in Turkey too. Is there any other European countries except Sweden that Apple refund tax directly?

Thank you,

iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 15

Hello Raicya,

I am not talking about tax refund in airport counters (they take extra commissions for that), my friend requested it from directly vat.refunds@apple.com via email (which means %100 tax refund, no third part included) to his credit card back once he is back to Turkey(NON-EU) and it is confirmed. He bought it from an Apple store in Sweden.

I just want to know if this process is possible in all Apple stores in Europe or not? For example, I will travel to Netherlands soon and I plan to buy iPhone there, and I want to refund the tax when I am back from my Netherlands holiday to Turkey.

Thank you,

If you buy an iPhone at an Apple Store, while processing the transaction in the store, you should have indicated that you want to receive the tax back.

You will then get a written statement for request refund paid tax, together with the invoice.

Then you can get the tax amount back at a special counter at the airport.

There is a chance that you will have to pay tax on arrival in your home country, depending on import duties and customs clearance costs.

To be sure, you should ask the store where you purchase the iPhone, how that works.

Rules are often changed.
