No heart rate measurement during exercise

I'm using the Ultra, and I don't get a steady heart rate measurement during active cardio like running. Seems to be anything involving a lot of arm movement. Heart rate measurement freezes at a certain number and doesn't update, even as my heart rate changes. I am wearing the band quite snug and I don't have tattoos. I have noticed this problem using the workout app or using 3rd party apps like Workoutdoors. Any ideas?

Hello mathgun,

If your Apple Watch is not tracking heart rate, you'll want to make sure it's currently enabled with these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch Ultra.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Health.
  3. Tap Heart Rate, then turn on Heart Rate.

Check your heart rate on Apple Watch Ultra

You'll also want to make sure Low Power Mode isn't currently enabled.

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Scroll down, then tap Battery.
  3. Turn off Low Power Mode.

Use Low Power Mode on your Apple Watch

If you've checked those things, and it's still not tracking heart rate, you'd want to contact Apple to report that issue: Get Support

Cheers!
