Macbook Pro M1 will not stay turned off

I bought a brand new macbook pro this year (2022). When I shut off the computer and close the lid, 9 out of 10 times the computer turns itself back on. I cannot get the computer to stay turned off! If it doesn't automatocally reboot when j close the lid, it reboots as i try to put it away in it's sleeve. Please helo me fix this problem! Did i buy a lemon maybe am I the only one with this issue?

Hi there tiffanyfromst-hubert,

We're happy to provide some information. It sounds like you may not be fully shutting down your MacBook Pro before closing the lid.

Important: If you’re using a Mac notebook computer, wait for it to shut down completely before closing the display. If you close the display while the Mac is shutting down, it may not shut down properly and may start up more slowly the next time you turn it on.

To fully power it off, follow these steps:

- On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.

If you don’t want app windows that are open to reopen when your Mac restarts, deselect “Reopen windows when logging back in”.

A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black. Some computers also don’t show an active power light or have any fan or drive noise.

You'll find these steps and more information here: Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support (IN)

Take care.
