Where are the accents?!

I was always impressed that I could push down a key and see the accents appear for a more effortless typing experience. But when I upgraded to macOS Ventura 13.0, the accents were gone!

I have tried restoring modifier keys and inputting the terminal code, but nothing works.

Apple, please bring them back. It's been so helpful for my language class, especially since my name has an accent!

NB: Article also says: Accent marks aren’t available in all apps, so wondering which app you are using.


You may want to send feedback toApple, to reach those who could make the changes.

They will likely not reply, yet your feedback may help get the issue noticed.

The more feedback received on an issue, the more likely we would see changes in an upcoming update.

You can choose the Mac OS app where accents are no longer working for you, and click to open a feedback form:
