HomeKit Secure Video Motion Notifications

Over the past month or so my 3 Circle View HomeKit cameras have been sending me notifications for any motion they detect at all, despite me setting them all to only send notifications f when people, animals and vehicles are detected. On top of this I have also set the cameras to only record under the same conditions, however they are recording when any motion at all is detected. Because all 3 cameras are outside I receive notifications from all of them, non-stop for everything like wind in the trees, to shadows on the ground as the sun goes behind the clouds. Some recordings are upwards for 15 minutes because of windy conditions, and on windy days I am probably receiving hundreds upon hundreds of notifications and recordings.

I have tried removing all the cameras from my home app, I have tried toggling off and on various settings in the app, for example setting it to only send me a notification if a clip is recorded, and then setting it so that a clip is only recorded if a person is detected. And still I receive notifications telling me “motion has been detected” and a clip of nothing has been recorded.

Is anyone else having similar issues, or has anyone in the past had similar issues that know of a potential fix for this issue?

Thanks

I was interested in your question and went on a bit of a search. You might be interested in this Reddit article and this Macrumors article. There are a few suggestions to look at, which boil down to minimising the circumstances for which your camera will send an alert, including selecting only human detection and a defined space.

I have a video doorbell and I've also minimised its sensitivity. Fortunately my door faces a perimeter fence and I don't have to deal with cars in the street going by. Good luck.
