Do you mean transfer photos from your iPad? If so, you have options. One way is to use iCloud to sync photos on your iPad and Mac, and that will keep them the same even when new pictures are added. Once you set it up, it may take a few days for the pictures to move over, but without it happens automatically, without you having to do anything else.
You can connect the iPad and the Mac with a cable, and when you run Photos it should automatically ask you about transferring your pictures.
