SD card reader not detected on iPhone with iOS16.1

Hello,

I am trying to get my new Apple SD card reader to work on my iPhone X but it won't be detected.

The card is not showing in the Files app, and the card reader itself does not show up in Settings > General > About.

It works great on my wife's iPhone 8s with iOS15.

Tried updating iOS from 16 to 16.1, rebooting it, unplugging and replugging it hundreds of times, checked Accessories in Settings > Face ID & Passcode, cleaned my iPhone's plug, nothing worked. I'm running out of ideas and as a photographer, really need that card reader to work.
