Apple TV 4k not switching on TV sometimes

Hey community,

I've bought recently an Apple TV 4K, my first one, and connected it to my Philips 65OLED805. The Apple TV runs the latest OS and I'm using a high-speed HDMI cable to ensure I have sufficient bandwidth and capability between my TV and the Apple TV.

However, without having identified a specific pattern, in 2 out of 10 times, when switching on the Apple TV, my TV doesn't get switched on.

Any ideas why this could be the case? Any ideas to identify the root cause?

Thanks,

Mike

I have noticed the same behaviour. I haven't narrowed it down yet, but it would appear that when the power button doesn't turn the TV on, pressing the 'screen' button on the remote will.

I have also had repeated WiFi issues with the AppleTV 4K that I seem to have solved by turning off the HomeKit hub functionality. With the HomeKit hub function on, there was a spurious entry in my router's DHCP tables associated with 'Unkown' (sic) and an IP6 address. The misspelling is worrying.

This has made me wonder if having hub enabled also stops the AppleTV 4K from sending a wake-up signal to the TV until you actively have a TV app sending a signal over HDMI. Just thinking out loud at the moment but, I agree there is something weird with CEC wake-up and, for me, WiFi and HomeKit hub :)
