Hi fredrick37,

Does this only happen with a specific channel/video or does it happen wit any that you select to view? there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

  1. Quit Safari and relaunch the app. You can press Command - Q to quit
  2. Reload the page. You can go to View > Reload Page
  3. Check for any extension by going to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions

Check out more information here: If Safari on Mac doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected - Apple Support.

Hope that helps!

Hey fredrick37,

Thanks for the additional info and trying those steps.

Let's try starting your MacBook Air in safe mode. Safe mode does some system checks, and can sometimes resolve unexpected issues.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

It may take longer to finish the start up. You'll also see some differences in the display. This is expected with safe mode, and when you restart normally, they'll be gone.

Test Safari with YouTube, then restart normally and test again.

How to use safe mode
Determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:
Apple silicon
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Intel processor
1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

Let us know what you discover, and we'll move forward, if needed.

Take care!

Thanks for trying those steps and getting back to us, fredrick37. It’s appreciated.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support -- Since the problem didn’t arise while your Mac was in safe mode but began again after a normal restart, reinstalling macOS is called for here:

If the issue continues in safe mode
If the issue continues while in safe mode, or your Mac restarts several times and then shuts down while starting up in safe mode, you should reinstall macOS and make sure that your Apple software and third-party apps are up to date.

Even though reiinstalling shouldn’t cause any issues with the data on your Mac, it’s recommended that you create a fresh backup before beginning: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support

Test the issue once macOS is reinstalled. Please let us know the results when you're able.

All the best.
