Play Count and Date not updating anymore

Hello,


after years of struggling with airplay not working via macOS (see here: Apple Music stalls when playing to Airpla… - Apple Community) I was so happy that this bug seemed to be fixed in macOS 13.0 Ventura.


But now there is a new bug. Or better say, an old bug is back. Play Count and Date won't be updadet when music is playing. Doesn't depend if music is played via airplay or on the mac itself.


This was a long time that was finally fixed with macOS 11.5. And now it is back. Anyone else experiencing it?


I don't use Apple Music and have my local library playing. All updates are installed.

We'd like to learn more to see how we can help with Apple Music on your Mac in regard to play count. Are you playing music directly from the speakers of your Mac or are you using headphones or a Bluetooth device to hear the audio?


If you restart your Mac with the steps below, does that seem to help?


Restart your Mac
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Restart.
If you don’t want app windows that are open to reopen when your Mac restarts, deselect “Reopen windows when logging back in.”
