i have purchased a new Apple Watch and traded my old iPhone. When checking out it says one figure and payment was the full price of the device.
do I get a refund of the trade in (back into my bank account) or a gift voucher?

Did you already trade-in the old device, or are you waiting for the kit to send it back? I believe you should get the trade-in refund when they receive the old device.
