ios 16 photo cutout does not copy

When I press on a subject in a photo, it illuminates and I can move around and get the copy command. However, when I try to paste it or drag and drop it onto another app, nothing happens. Does anybody have a solution. Thank you.

Hello DetroitYES,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand you're lifting a subject from the photo background, but can't paste it or drag it to apps, correct?

If we understood this correctly, let's see if this is isolated to an app that isn't supported with the feature. With the copy feature, try pasting it in an email, text, note, or post. Check out the following steps to see which apps are mentioned, and let us know if you're able to successfully complete these steps. You can also locate more information here: Lift a subject from the photo background on iPhone - Apple Support

1. Open a photo.

2. Touch and briefly hold the subject of the photo. When it’s outlined, do one of the following:

• Tap Copy, then paste the subject into an email, text message, note, or post.

• Tap Share, then choose a sharing option, such as AirDrop, Messages, or Mail.

•Drag it into an email, text message, or note.

If you can't lift the subject and place it with the steps above, let's confirm you have the latest iOS version installed. If an update is available, be sure to back up your iPhone before installing. You can locate steps to help with updating and backing up here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

We hope this is able to clear up what's occurring, but provide more details for us if not. Let us know which apps and methods you're trying to use so we have a clearer understanding of this.

Have a great day!
